Blocking Users

Take control of your GatherRound experience.

How to Block Someone

  1. Visit their profile
  2. Click the menu (⋮)
  3. Select Block User
  4. Confirm

What Happens When You Block

They Can't:

  • See your profile
  • See your events
  • RSVP to your events
  • Send you friend requests
  • View your friends list

Automatic Actions:

  • Any pending friend request is cancelled
  • Any pending RSVP to your events is auto-declined
  • They're removed from your events (if attending)

What They See:

  • Your profile shows limited info
  • Your events don't appear in their search
  • They aren't told they've been blocked

What You See

When you've blocked someone:

  • Their profile shows "You have blocked this user"
  • Their events don't appear in your feed
  • They don't appear in search results

Unblocking

  1. Go to their profile (via direct URL)
  2. Click Unblock

Or:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find Blocked Users section
  3. Click Unblock next to their name

After Unblocking

  • They can see your profile again
  • They can see your events again
  • You'd need to re-add them as a friend

Mutual Blocks

If both users block each other:

  • Neither can see the other's profile
  • Neither can see the other's events
  • Unblocking your side doesn't reveal their profile if they still have you blocked

At Events

If someone you've blocked attends the same event:

  • You may see a warning
  • You can still attend
  • Consider the situation carefully

Blocking doesn't prevent real-world encounters at events hosted by others.

When to Block

Consider blocking if someone:

  • Is harassing you
  • Makes you uncomfortable
  • Is sending unwanted messages
  • Behaves inappropriately

When to Report

Blocking protects you. Reporting protects the community.

If behavior violates our Community Guidelines, please report it too.
