Meet the Founder
The person behind the dice
I'm Seth—a product designer by day, tabletop and video game enthusiast, analog appreciator, and late-night tinkerer. I'm also a father, a husband, and a firm believer that good design makes everything better.
I'm a product of the '90s. My gateway to the internet came through a screeching modem and a copy of AOL 4.0. I grew up on a steady diet of board games, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, and Flash games—finding my way into technology not through textbooks, but through cheat codes and forums.
My shelves were a crossroads of worlds: board games sprawled open on the floor, rulebooks dog-eared and arguments about "house rules" lasting longer than the games themselves. Pokémon cards lived in cracked plastic binders, their corners worn from playground trades and late-night deck tweaks, where probability felt less like math and more like instinct.
D&D taught me that creativity could be quantified—strength scores, spell slots, alignment charts—but never contained. I learned collaboration by rolling dice, negotiation by bartering cards, and storytelling by sitting around a table imagining something bigger than myself.
Why I Built GatherRound
The love for board games and tabletop RPGs has never been more vibrant. Yet, as our networks expand digitally, finding local, like-minded gamers remains a challenge. Geographic distances, the search for safe and welcoming environments, and the logistical hurdles of organizing game nights cast shadows over the joy of play.
For many, the result is a compromise: settling for online simulations that lack the warmth of in-person interactions, or worse, sidelining their gaming passions altogether.
In an age where digital interactions often replace face-to-face connections, the thirst for real, tangible experiences is more pronounced than ever.
